About Pest Control in Scotland

The majority of Scotland's 5.2 million inhabitants live in the central belt where the largest city Glasgow and capital city Edinburgh are located. The countries two other cities, Dundee and Aberdeen are situated further north. The size of the Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen coupled with their riverside or costal locations, high population density and heavily industrialised areas make these cities prone to pest related issues.

Many of the modern day urban pests are common in Scotland's towns and cities, such as Rats, Mice, Ants, Wasps, Cockroaches, Fleas, Bed Bugs, Pigeons and Gulls; which are often if not completely dependent on their close proximity to humans.

Referred to as commensal, which literally means to "share ones table" these pests including many Rodent, Insect and Bird species will live entirely from the foodstuffs we store or the waste we discard. Other pests such as Bed Bugs, Fleas and other Biting Insects require only the presence of a human or animal host, meaning that they are quite at home in our domestic environments.

The number of pest infestations we are encountering in Scotland is on the increase in most cases with significant rises noted in the Rodent population and exponential increases in the number of reports of Bed Bugs. This is in fact a common trend throughout the UK. Also Pigeon and Gull activity in the centre of Scotland's towns and cities is at an all time high.
